“Morgan Rice has come up with what promises to be another brilliant series, immersing us in a fantasy of valor, honor, courage, magic and faith in your destiny. Morgan has managed again to produce a strong set of characters that make us cheer for them on every page.…Recommended for the permanent library of all readers that love a well-written fantasy.” --Books and Movie Reviews, Roberto Mattos (regarding Rise of the Dragons) ROGUE, PRISONER, PRINCESS is book #2 in Morgan Rice’s bestselling epic fantasy series OF CROWNS AND GLORY, which begins with SLAVE, WARRIOR, QUEEN (Book #1). 17 year old Ceres, a beautiful, poor girl from the Empire city of Delos, finds herself forced, by royal decree, to fight in the Stade, the brutal arena where warriors from all corners of the world come to kill each other. Pitted against ferocious opponents, her chances of survival are slim. Her only chance lies in drawing on her innermost powers, and making the transition, once and for all, from slave to warrior. 18 year old Prince Thanos wakes on the isle of Haylon to discover he has been stabbed in the back by his own people, left for dead on the blood-soaked beach. Captured by the rebels, he must crawl his way back to life, find who tried to assassinate him, and seek his revenge. Ceres and Thanos, a world apart, have not lost their love for each other; yet the Empire court teems with lies, betrayal and duplicity, and as jealous royals weave intricate lies, they each, in a tragic misunderstanding, are led to believe the other is dead. The choices they make will determine each other’s fate. Will Ceres survive the Stade and become the warrior she was meant to be? Will Thanos heal and discover the secret being withheld from him? Will the two of them, forced apart, find each other again? ROGUE, PRISONER, PRINCESS tells an epic tale of tragic love, vengeance, betrayal, ambition, and destiny. Filled with unforgettable characters and heart-pounding action, it transports us into a world we will never forget, and makes us fall in love with fantasy all over again. “An action packed fantasy sure to please fans of Morgan Rice’s previous novels, along with fans of works such as The Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini…. Fans of Young Adult Fiction will devour this latest work by Rice and beg for more.” --The Wanderer, A Literary Journal (regarding Rise of the Dragons) Book #3 in OF CROWNS AND GLORY will be released soon!

"If you thought that there was no reason left for living after the end of THE SORCERER'S RING series, you were wrong. In RISE OF THE DRAGONS Morgan Rice has come up with what promises to be another brilliant series, immersing us in a fantasy of trolls and dragons, of valor, honor, courage, magic and faith in your destiny. Morgan has managed again to produce a strong set of characters that make us cheer for them on every page....Recommended for the permanent library of all readers that love a well-written fantasy."

"RISE OF THE DRAGONS succeeds--right from the start.... A superior fantasy...It begins, as it should, with one protagonist's struggles and moves neatly into a wider circle of knights, dragons, magic and monsters, and destiny....All the trappings of high fantasy are here, from soldiers and battles to confrontations with self....A recommended winner for any who enjoy epic fantasy writing fueled by powerful, believable young adult protagonists."

I enjoy reading this genre. This is one book that was hard to put down. It surfaced a myriad of emotions including hate, love, fear, admiration, intrigue and support (and these are just from me). There are characters you love to hate, those you feel sorry for, those you are rooting for and those that you are not sure about. It like riding a roller coaster, where you free fall and then tugs at you at a very sharp turn - trying to figure out what comes next. Looking forward to getting my hands on the next book.

Enjoyed the book and the characters. Thinks the characters are well developed but could use some more depth. Enjoy the intrigue in this book with the plotting within the royal court. Although I still think that Morgan Rice's books tend to have the same basic story lines, just with different character names and different names for the various lands and cities. Otherwise, in all the Morgan Rice series of books, there's always two characters that are in love, get separated by war and the love get tested while separated. Having the same theme within his books is a little old and a little disappointment that the stories end up basically in the same way. That said, I still keep buying the books as they are well written enough for me to enjoy and like reading about the new characters and their journey's.

Mr. Rice just keeps getting better. This new cast of characters are, in my opinion, are the best so far. You'll find yourself suffering with them or cheering them depending on the circumstances. With some of the other characters you just wish you could there to mete out justice. Add to that an engrossing plot and an exciting and captivating story line. What more could a reader ask for? My only complaint was it was over too soon, but I have the answer to that- the next book which is where I'm headed now.

I dislike expansive novels that are then separated into ten or more novels. And for what to milk the consumer dry? I just don't get it.

Sure Morgan Rice creates great stories, great characters, and writes well. But come on, finish your books with a tidy ending. Don't force your readers to keep on buying more and more books. It gets old.

I'm of the mind to stop reading her novels, I'm that tired of cliffhanger endings, or endings that appear more like breaks between chapters.

My review, one Star for an interesting story. Second Star for well developed characters. And the Third Star for her writing.

I'd give a fourth, but I really don't like books that abruptly end. So I can't in due faith give it. And I'd give a fifth, but again, a good novelist goes with a good Editor. But I can't give it, not for the way these books were written - a good Editor would have given the story endings, not go along with an never ending novel.

This was a good follow up to the series starter. It took me a while to read it because I was focused on my "real" books and I have this in ebook. No matter how long I sat it down though, I had no problem catching right back up with the story lines. There were a lot of different points of view in this one, so if you have a hard time with that or don't like multiple voices, then you probably shouldn't read this.

All in all, a good addition to the series. Lots of things are happening, although nothing is really earth shattering. If you like medieval epic fantasy, you like sword fighting and deception then this series is up your alley.
  • Reviewed in the United States on January 2, 2019
Morgan Rice has written a second book that surpasses the first in the series and as good as the first book that was no easy task the character development continues throughout the second with as much attention to detail as happened in the first book the ending will leave you wanting and needing to read the third book in the series. You will find the investment in time and money spent reading this book to be well spent.

I didn't realize this was book two until I finished. There is enough information and development of the characters for the book to stand on it's own. There are resolutions to this books plot points, but the story does continue.
I put it down for a few weeks, because if the constant changing perspective. I am glad I came back. It's an interesting realm, and I enjoyed getting to know the characters.

Apesar de demorar um pouco a desenvolver, a estória é muito boa e bem escrita. Há também algumas renduncias nas palavras utilizadas.

Despite the fact that the story takes some time to develop, it's indeed a good one and well written. There's also some redundancies in the words used.
